Plus... you know.  Lye and oils and some other stuff.  But still.  THERE IS A CUCUMBER IN THERE, YOU GUYS.  I am so excited.

I know I am not the first person on the internet, or even on this board, to make cucumber soap.  But still.  How danged exciting is this?  Answer: pretty danged.

Cucumber puree (peels and all!), substituted for water....

...yields these lovely spring green bars!

Right now they kind of smell like, well, stewed vegetables.  But the fragrance (cucumber mint FO, rosemary & citrus EOs) is slowly coming through as the cuke smell fades.

C&C adored.  Thanks for looking!

That's pretty awesome. My boyfriend got a cappuccino soap for Christmas and I'm pretty sure it has coffee grounds in it as an exfoliate and have been thinking about trying my own soap. I LOVE cucumber soap but never though of putting it in a soap myself. Very daring and crafty Smiley

I am loving the look of this soap!  Are those calendula flowers?  Can I ask what other ingredients you used to make this?

Ilianora: Thanks!  Soaping is incredibly fun and incredibly addictive.  You should give it a go!  But beware... it'll be hard to stop.  Wink

mcook: Sorry to have provoked, erm, such a visceral reaction.  Pepto?  Grin  (OH MAN, COULD THAT GO IN SOAP? plot plot plot.)

dreadlocklove: That is in fact calendula--plus some dried oregano and blue poppy seeds.  I got excited about MareMare & mullerslane's discussion of gardener's scrub soaps, and had wanted to try a cucumber soap for a while, so it seemed like a natural combination.  Other than the botanicals and the pureed cucumber, it's just my normal CP recipe (veggie shortening, olive oil and coconut oil).  I didn't alter anything else.  If it starts rotting or something, I'll give y'all a heads-up.

Are there little chunks of soap in the top along with the calendula? It looks awesome, I've always wanted to try that!

No?  You don't want any Pepto-Bissoap?  Grin

Yep, they're little chunks of a mint soap I made a while ago!  I'd been dying to try that too... (I've seen it on other soaps and it makes them look so gourmet!).  I suspect they'll fall right off the moment I try to use the soap, but they're so very pretty!

This was a pretty experimental batch all and all... but very satisfying!  Next I want to do something with goat milk (got some in the fridge--oh boy, oh boy).

Ha ha, love it!  Admittedly, it might be a *tad* easier just to go to the store and pick up some milk... but I like your method better.

The color is ah-mazing! Pretty, pretty!

Smitten -- check around for goat farms. Seriously, I'll have to find the link (such a thing exists! God bless you, interwebs!) for finding your local goat farm. A lot will let you come and get fresh milk for very, very cheap, sometimes free. Coolness abounds.

I also forgot to say how lovely all of your soap creations look. Perhaps this is a good time for a shameless plug-in! Grin
