This is so beautiful. I am really into not tradition forms of memorialisation and memory (I did I thesis on it, I tend to ramble) and this just toatlly embodies that. I think i really taps into the ability for art to say the unsayable and that, I think, is why we all create!

Well done Wulf,

-Ralph

You're very talented. I've always thought scrap booking had too much candy. It's nice to see some good food for thought thrown into the mix. Now I'm gonna have to go check out this craft along.

How about a personal memo or quote in the lower corner.

This is great!  It's so personal and engaging (as it isn't immediately obvious what all you're commemorating. Even after reading this I have a hard time thinking "scrapbook" when I see it and rather thing "collage-ish".  I think you've finally put into words my aversion to "scrapbooking" as it seems to be defined these days... where are the scraps?  Not that I don't enjoy seeing other people's creations, because I truly do.  They are expressing their feelings about their lives their way and that's as cool as it gets, but there doesn't often seem like there is room for a moodier aesthetic.

That said there are flat varnishes out there and you could top coat your acrylic paintings with them to make them matte.  I don't know if they're available at craft or art stores, but they do make and sell them for decorative/faux painters.  Golden Artist Colors has a line for decorative painters called Proceed (rather than Golden) and they have a matting additive, so maybe Golden does, too.

Ysmeine and MistressT, those are both excellent suggestions. A bit of text would fill that empty space better than a photo, because it wouldn't change the balance of the light/dark too much. And I hadn't thought of a matte finish. I could just mask out the photos and use a spray.

"Putting the scraps back into scrapbooking" -- I like that! Smiley
