sup doods

I've been working on my thesis a lot recently, and here is one image from it. I'm making a children's book for kids coping with the loss of a parent from cancer. I'm doing about 30 of these, and I'm not sure why I thought it was a good idea! I will be massively busy until May. Eep!

That's such a good way to illustrate the book! There's just so much visual interest that I'm sure kids and parents will love it. What is your thesis in?

I'm majoring in Design, since they had just eliminated the Illustration program. Design was the closest I could get. Boo!

That's too bad about the school eliminating the illustration program. Hopefully it was just one of those title things but that most of the courses could remain the same (sort of like how my school was fancy and had a neuroscience program, even though you could be a biology major and still take all the neuro courses). What made you choose your topic for your thesis?

I'm not a kid but I'd love to read it once it's completed. It's going to be a tough year.

Unfortunately when I applied, they told me they still had most of the illustration courses. That was a total and complete lie- they had about three. I took all of them and ate it up, but I would have loved to do more illustration and less staring at my computer screen!

frogz- My father died from thyroid cancer (and Multiple Sclerosis, to a lesser extent) when I was 15. I had my twin sister to talk to about it, but little sister was 6 years old and didn't really have anybody. She grew up only knowing a dad with cancer, and not a healthy dad. This book is for her Smiley

rae- I may post a small version of this online! I'm going to be publishing it through Lulu, as well.

The book is written in the form of a letter. The girl is writing to her dad who has passed away and is telling all of her feelings and how things have changed and stuff. Everybody who has read it says they have cried, both because it's sad and heartwarming. I'm actually kind of surprised I was able to write this so well, haha!

This is beautiful, and such a great (and needed) subject for a kids book. It's going to be amazing, I can already tell Smiley
