So long story short. Got a sewing machine for Christmas (thanks Mom!), made some small stuff, really wasn't satisfying enough so I decided to take on something bigger. I'm not new to sewing, but let's just say far from expert Tongue. Decided I need a mid-size type of messenger bag for when I go to NYC next month to see the Tim Burton exhibit at MoMA, it needed to be big enough for standard purse essentials, plus if I buy anything I don't wanna have to lug it around separately. There aren't any pockets, zippers, etc., I never really use them in any purse I own. Though I think I'm going to make an attachable pouch for my cellphone.

The flap actually is centered on the bag, it was just sitting weird

The interior...

The hardware...made my own adjustable strap, so proud of myself for that one!

Its 12"w x 10"h x 2"deep, drafted my own pattern after looking at tons of tutes... its could be a modified version of the jordy bag

The exterior fabric is Michael Miller's ironworks in black and white, I don't remember what the interior is called, but you can find it in the quilting section at Joann's, they also have it in blue Wink. It's interfaced on the outer later with pellon decor bond, and the silver hardware came from www.strapworks.com. I learned a lot with this and only broke one needle! Roll Eyes

Haha, thanks! I loved the fabric so much that I bought extra Wink. The purple was from a previous project...I didn't even realize til now that they're both swirled print Roll Eyes

Great bag!  I love Tim Burton and messenger style bags so win win  Cheesy  Thank you soooo much for posting that website, too.  I have been looking for a source for metal strap adjuster thingies like that.  All I can ever find is the plastic ones.

Thanks! Ugh, you don't wanna know how much frustration I went through trying to find the strap adjusters and rectangle rings. I went to every craft store in my area, and they either didn't have it, they were too small, or the sales people looked at me like I was an idiot. Seriously....if you're gonna work in a craft store, know something about crafts! I tried etsy, but the closest I could find was some place in Thailand...not ideal. After about 3 hours of searching online every possible description I could think up, I found strapworks. The prices are reasonable, and I chose the cheapest shipping and it still got to me really quick, considering I'm pretty much on the other side of the country from them. I also like the option that you can ordered colored metal hardware...might have to use that in the future! Smiley
