I was organizing my craft table last night and came across some patterns for ornaments that I really want to make but never get to. I wait until November most ever year to get started on them. By then, life goes bananas for me both at work (I'm a teacher so that's close to end of semester for me) and personally.

Why do we wait to make those ornaments? I couldn't come up with a good answer so this calls for an Ornament swap in June!

I was thinking that we could create a list of 10 or so themes and craft 3 ornaments (2 from themes and one of your own choosing). Basically, this would be 3 smalls in the month of June.

What do you think?

I like your idea.  These days, small swaps make a lot of sense to me.  I also am crazy for Christmas, so this would be my cup of tea. Wink

I like this idea too.  I actually kept all my Christmas crafting stuff out because as a New Year's resolution I said I was going to craft for Christmas all year long.  I've been too busy swappin' though.  Tongue

That sounds great.  I've ordered a book through paperbackswap.com for Christmas ornaments, which should arrive soon, which will be great.

Ornaments were my first inclination, but there are so many other small goodies that we could do like mini stockings, door hangers (I love these!), etc.

I'll have to be specific in the questionnaire about exactly what you would like to receive. Smiley

I was thinking 3 small items. What do you all think?

I'll most likely start the sign ups for this swap somewhere in the week of June 6th.

Surely being just 3 smalls it would be ? the postage on that isnt prohibitive Smiley

That time date suits me perfect too Smiley

I will be setting up this swap this weekend!

Just to update everyone interested:

~3 smalls
~sign ups will run for two weeks or until full (see below)
~international swappers are welcome  Cheesy
~a month craft time (maybe 6 wks...still noodling this one )

I will be limiting the number of swappers to 24 total. Once the swap is full, I will partner everyone up and we can get started so yes, potentially even longer craft time!

What could some good small ideas for this swap? I don't know about you ladies, but I tend to think in medium to large terms, hardly ever small.

ornaments (a given)
mini stockings (this could be cool if you personalized them with names!)
garland
small decor like door pulls, pillows, plaques (sp?)
wine glass markers
small snowflake mobiles
table ware like place mats or hot pads
decorated coffee mugs...I like this one! Cheesy

What else? I'll compile a list and add it to the second post of the swap for inspiration. Smiley

Ooh, excellent ideas so far.

How about ... (all of these depend on the skill of the creator because some of these wouldn't be a small for me, but I'm sure they would be for someone else!)

- hot pads/coasters filled with "Christmas" scents, so when something warm is put on them, they smell nice? (cinnamon, etc.)
- little sachets filled with Christmas scents
- small picture frames with Christmas 2010 on it
- for pets - holiday paraphernalia (a Christmas collar or bandana for a dog, a little catnip filled Christmas tree for a cat)
- Christmas jewelry (a pair of earrings, perhaps?)
- small wreaths
- a simple tree topper
- winter/Christmas magnets
- winter-themed dishcloths

LOL!

More ideas...I had time to think a bit during a my dd's karate belt test this morning. Smiley

napkin rings
small origami gift boxes (The ones that I saw were the size of a jewelry gift box for earrings. Cute as a button!)
simple holiday cards for sending to friends and family
small holiday recipe organizer
cute little stocking stuffers like lip balm cozies, Ipod covers, needle books, book marks
ready to use drink mixes like hot cocoa, chai tea, spiced cider...mmmmmm ....

OMG! What about an altered altoid tin to hold special reindeer food (i.e. oatmeal and glitter) for Christmas Eve?! oh...yeah...(gettin' my holiday geek craftitude on here!)
