I think I might do 7 in square & sew them together diagonally instead of the usual square.
I'm doing 2 types of square. still not sure on colors.

Oh that sounds cool! So would you fill in the sides with triangles?

maybe eventually. lol

Well, here's what I did yesterday. Grandma says I need to loosen up. Is that all? Sill looks -wrong- to me.

I've never seen that type before... but it almost looks like there's only two rounds... and if you're trying the most basic granny square, it looks like there aren't any spaces in the outer row...

hmm, are you doing 3 dc into each chain space, with (3 dc, 2 chains 3 dc) into the corners? With only 1 chain between every group of 3?

For the record, my traditional granny square pattern is ch2 between groups of 3dc on the corners, but otherwise, no chain stitches.  I like the smaller holes it leaves. ^_^

that's the basic idea, but... ? I think I might just pull it out and try again, ignoring what she told me and watching youtube.

To me it looks like you might have extra stitches in there. Round 1 should have 12 stitches and round 2 should have 24 (I think?, foggy work brain).

I am brand new here and just learning to crochet.  A granny square a day sounds awesome! Smiley
