I needed something new to stash my cds in and a few insomnia filled nights later I came up with this.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v227/I_came_as_a_rat/DSC00823.jpg

All I did was get some empty cd cases and used scrapbook paper for the liner notes and glue everything together.  I still need to add one more cd cube to the very top to complete the step look that it has going on.

what kind of glue did you use? I need a new storage system and I love this cause I've got a million jewel cases and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than anything in the store, not to mention I can make it bigger at any time.

I've used regular old hot glue for other jewel case projects, and it's worked well for me.

I used super glue but I'm sure a hot glue gun would work fine like quarkiegirl said.

Well tried it with hot glue but it didn't work. They broke apart later on, with all the cds in them. So yeah, stick with the super glue.

That's a really good idea. I can use a shelf system like that to put my little stuff on. Where on earth did you find such cool scrapbook paper?

What a great idea! I have a ton of jewel cases stuffed in my closet too. As soon as I find a good glue, I'm going to work!

Edit: Yay, I found plastic glue in my basement! I made a mini one, as I have a very small bought CD collection (most of my CDs are burnt, and in those portable CD holders. I used the thinner jewel cases glued together, the kind that you buy blank CDs in, because I didn't have enough thicker ones. I also had to put a little mini support in the middle because the top shelf kept leaning, guess the glue wasn't quiiite strong enough. But ah well. Thanks for the awesome idea! Here's a picture of my version:

Unfortunately I forgot that I should put the decorating inserts in beFORE gluing the whole thing together, but I managed to slip some blue CDs in the top, so that's fine with me.

That's really clever - I bet you could use that idea for lots of things! And I love the paper in the CD covers - it's so pretty and cheery. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, thanks for all the positive feedback guys.  About all the glue questions, I just used standard super glue to keep it all together.  By its self the different little shelves tend to bend down a little bit but once you put the cds in it the whole thing is pretty sturdy.  As for the paper in it, Craftwarehouse was having a sale so I stocked up on some awesome scrapbook paper.  I love craftstore sales!
