I've been busy with work and getting back in to school so I haven't had the chance to do much sewing, painting or crafting.  This is my first completed project of the year.

I've seen some shirring tutorials on crafty blogs and an episode of Thread Banger.  It's hard to find elastic thread here, but I managed to get some and this is my first attempt.   Grin

I love the look of these shirred tops!  And that blue screams spring/summer wear.  I've made a couple for my 3 y/o, they're not too hard.  I used the Threadbanger tutorial myself.  She made it seem so easy - and she was right!

great job ! I love shirring , and it looks great ..... one warning though ... I  recently had a bobbin  case get totally sprung out from usisng eslastic thread often ... they are pretty cheap usually less than 6 $ so if you plan to do alot of shirring with elastic thread I reccomend getting and extra bobbin case and using it just for the thick elastic thread .....it will save you lots of headaches in the future .... Thank you all!   Cheesy

Violent jayne:  Thanks for the tip!  I hope I can find a bobbin case for my refurbished Janome.

Sandroo:  Shirred dresses on little girls are so cute!  I want to make some for my god daughter and my boyfriend's baby sisters.

Barbee:  It's incredibly easy!!!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsSZTHyCLyU That is the link to the Thread Banger episode.

retretretretretret:  Thanks. It is super "springy".  It's a bit loose on me so I'm giving it to my friend who is more into spring colors anyways.

I've been trying to do a top just like that, only my machine absolutely refuses to do shirring. I searched online and found that Brother sewing machines don't like it so much but there is a way around it (I need a spare bobbin caseto alter the tension). Just waiting for Brother to get back to me with a place I can get one. I'm getting a little impatient now I've seen your top LOL. I want to make one too! It's fab!
