I just remembered that one of my coworkers has a birthday coming up. We both like reading romance novels, but there are certain situations where you just don't want to advertise what you are reading. And I have a box of fabric someone gave me. Thus, this fabric book cover! Here are some pics.

And the color is a little bit more true in this picture:

I hope she likes it. I will probably make one for myself sometime...if I ever get time to make something for myself.

My brain hurt like a warehouse, it had no room to spare
I had to cram so many things to store everything in there
And all the fat-skinny people, and all the tall-short people
And all the nobody people, and all the somebody people
I never thought I'd need so many people

That's very pretty, I love the fabric you chose! Maybe I'll get around to making myself one...

Thank you! It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but my guess is it would be a lot easier for other people. I'm not so hot at sewing...

Oooh! I need one of those. Not to cover up what I'm reading but to protect my current book from the hands of busy toddlers! I love it!

Brilliant!  The button closure is a nice touch.
I am inspired to make some to hide my books.  They look perfect for using up fat quarter scraps, and protecting books from getting smashed in my bag.

I love that fabric- it reminds me of a sundress my mom had when I was a kid!

And I sometimes also want to hide that I'm reading "His Pulsing Passion" from certain nosey coworkers!  Cheesy

That is a fantastic idea! Only... is there a way to adjust this for different book sizes?

You know, I was worried about that too. I thought of making it tie-able so I could adjust the size but that wasn't working. Most romance novels are of a pretty similar size to the one I used so I decided not to worry. I read several tutorials for different ways to make book covers before I made this, and one mentioned that if you use stretchy fabric you should use the smallest size book you would want to use it on when measuring the sizes and then it will stretch for larger books. My fabric just wasn't stretchy. Cheesy
