Twice I week I have class and don't get home until 7:30 pm.  When I get back my hubby is always hungry and I am short on time patience for cooking.  So I have started making crockpot oatmeal.  So tasty, so easy, so cheap and oh so healthy too.

2 cups oatmeal (do not use the quick cook kind)
6 cups water
handful of craisins
handful of raisins
a pinch of salt
a cinnamon stick
freshly grated nutmeg

Put in on low and about 7-9 hours later you have a yummy meal.  Sometimes I add mashed banana or nuts.

Thanks for the spices idea! I make steel-cut oats in my crock pot for time to time, it will be delicious with your recipe.

Why buy something when you can make it? http://www.diyist.com

I think my bf has a crock pot sitting in the back of the pantry somewhere.  I may have to try this.   Smiley
