she only LOOKS scarey--she's actually an incarnation of Durga, who is considered the "Mother Goddess"--remember, every creator also has the power to destroy!

I may be signing up for this one...i've got to finish up my other swaps first!

okey i looked it up and heres the def. on MELPOMENE
Melpomene ("to sing") was a Muse in Greek mythology. She was the muse of tragedy, despite her joyous singing. She is often represented with a tragic mask and wearing the cothurnus, boots traditionally worn by tragic actors. Often, she also holds a knife or club in one hand and the tragic mask in the other. On her head she is shown wearing a crown of cypress.

It says she is the muse of tragedy, but on my play it said it was the muse of poetry  Huh who knows....

anyway heres more muses
The Nine Muses
Calliope | Clio | Erato | Euterpe | Melpomene | Polyhymnia | Terpsichore | Thalia | Urania

and heres a link where you can find lots of greek godesses and their meaning...
