In my quest for the perfect wallet (not too bulky, organized, easy access to everything, contains lots of stuff), I decided to finally make my own. My seamstress skills are very minimal and I could not find a pattern which would a) be clear enough for me to follow and b) suited my wallet needs. Soooo... I created my pattern, which I must say, I'm rather proud of!

Usually, the most complicated part (for me) of a pattern is all the cutting and measuring, so my wallet is basically two rectangles (that includes the lining), plus a tiny one for the tab; the rest is just folding and sewing.

Here it is:

The inside:

Coin pouch - the black Velcro is temporary, I plan on changing it to 1 long white strip:

Pocket - perfect for receipts and coupons:

Empty (click on thumbnails for bigger image):

Contents during pictures (click on thumbnails for bigger image) - 9 cards, tons of coupons, bills and some loose change:

Hope you like it! Any critisism, comments and suggestions are very welcome and appreciated.

Thanks for looking Wink

I really like your wallet.   Of course the cute monkey seals the deal, but it looks simple but very efficient for your needs - holds lots of stuff!   Great job (especially without a pattern)!

Thank you all for you encouragement, it means a lot!

I put the wallet to the test today and it's perfect, as practical as I hoped. The only thing I'm afraid of is it getting dirty since the fabric is light, though It would probably hold up really well if I tossed it in the washing machine. I'm thinking of spraying it with fabric protector (the kind you use to waterproof boots and backpacks) - anyone have any experience with this or could tell me weather you think it's a good idea or not?

I cut out pieces of paper first so I'd have an idea (of course it never turns out quite the same with the real thing) of sizing. I then made a "rough", which was too high and not long enough. From that, came this pattern - which I'm going to write down so I don't forget it and can make some more!
