I painted a serving plate for my friend's birthday.  I was stumped for ideas until someone showed me the artwork of Beatriz Milhazes.  So, I broke out the Pebeo and this is what I ended up with.

Apologies for the awful pics.

Really gorgeous!  What did you use for paint?  I've been wondering if there's a way you can paint plates or glasses in such a way that you can still use them for eating/drinking.  It would be great if there was a way and it didn't involved like a kiln or something like that.

i haven't given it to her yet. SHHH!!!

i used the Pebeo brand of paint. . . you paint, let it sit for 24 hours, then bake in an oven for 30 min.  the stuff is dishwasher safe and safe for eating on. . . .but i usually handwash it.  you can use it on anything that go in the oven. . .pebeo makes a glass paint, too.

the drawback is that the paint itself has limited uses because of its thinness. . .as you can tell, straight, sharp edges are hard to manage. . .so most of my projects have a watercolor-y look to them.

completely freehand. . . .though, to be fair, i used the Pebeo markers on the flower parts, so it really wasn't any more difficult than doodling with one of those crayola markers.  my hand is still crampy, and working on an oblong plate presents its own set of complications. . .but thanks!  i loved working on this one.
