So very cool. I love all the texture and the stitches you chose for the background. He really looks like he's popping right out of the fabric. And the idea to do a diptych--genius!

I've been thinking about this since I saw it early, had to wist it for sure.
But I finally realized what it made me feel like when I saw it.
Like staying in a log cabin just off of the lake, and looking out and seeing Nessie swimming and playing.

Aw, thanks!  I thought the frames looked a bit like old window frames, too.

uh... this is amazing. Like A LOT!

Thank you!

Thanks!  I wanted it to be all about Nessie, but didn't want him just floating in the middle of the fabric.  It was hard for me to find the balance between a simple background that told the story and full on filling in the whole thing.

Thank you!

Aw, thanks!  I think every stitch but the eyes was with multiple colors of floss on the needle at the same time.  I want to continue exploring that at some point.

I. Love. Nessie.  Cheesy

Thanks for the details about the floss combinations. I'm always interested as to how people get the effects they do. I really like the multiple strand thing you have there. Did it make the metallic easier to work with?

Lovely work. Lucky swap partner!

I am the proud owner of this piece. Not only is it amazingly stitched and filled with a plethora of amazing little details, it arrived out of the blue from someone who obviously remembered that I have a penchant for lake monsters, especially Nessie. Smiley

TheMistressT, you are awesome. Smiley Thank you!

Surprises in the mail are the best!  Especially when they are well done, thoughtful, groovy, metallic, chain-stitched lake monsters in awesome frames.

Thanks!  And yes, the metallic thread was MUCH easier to work with when mixed with the other floss.  In fact, I don't remember there being any issues at all aside from normal little bumps along the way.

I'm so glad you liked it!  I'm also glad I was finally able to do it; I'd come up with the initial idea of a Nessie gift for you at least 6 months ago and finally decided on this iteration of it.

Thanks for commenting in all the places this is listed.  Wink

Thanks!  The internet will have a hard time replacing surprises in the mail.
