Crafting to keep insanity at bay.

I love how gratifying this is. More stamps made for the IYP for both partners. The first image is what they look like when stamped. Then the stamps themselves. My faves are the little girl reading a book (supposed to be a bookplate type stamp, the little hedgehog, bigger bird, stacked teacups, and craft on stamp (I'll probably have to make another one for myself).

EDIT: I forgot to include a picture of some cards I made with stamps I previously posted. The stitch marks were made with a sharpie. I am still thinking of what to put in the speech bubbles.

They are so cute! You actually made the stamps? Please tell me how... I've never made any before. I think I'm going to have to give it a try!

It's pretty simple and just requires practice to get the technique down. I use a stamp carver (speedball brand) and speedycut linoleum (also speedball) to make them. You can also use pink erasers, and other soft carvable material. Check out Dick Blick or other art supply companies for supplies so you know what to look for. As far as carving itself, it's pretty much trial and error. I draw on the design with pencil and carve the lines first in the smallest tip I have to get the outlines, then go back in with gradually bigger tips to get rid of the waste material.

These are great!  Your stamps are getting better and better.  Nice work.

Thanks!  Grin I have a lot of fun doing it.

Very cute.  I love the tree and the yarn!

I haven't done much carving.  (The last thing I messed up, was doing a Hufflepuff house logo stamp - the acetone transfer wasn't perfect - and the head was messed up.)  Was so annoyed!

Thanks guys!  Smiley I've never tried acetone transfer - I tried carbon paper one time and that was so faint it wasn't worth it. I just freehand it as best I can haha.

Great stamps. I've never used a stamp carver before, just an exacto knife. The carver does allow you to get details that the knife can't. I'll have to give it a try.

Thank you! The carver and blades are totally worth it if you plan on making a lot of stamps. It's a lot of fun.  Smiley
