A quilt for a snail picnic

This is my first Craftster Craft Challenge and my first quilt!  With spring coming, I realized that the little snails that my dear gave me for Christmas were going to need something for their afternoon picnics.  Even though there's still snow outside here in Minnesota, they decided to have an indoor picnic with tea and a snack of leaves in my living room as soon as it was finished:



I made the tiny cups, saucers and plates out of polymer clay and the leaves from paper.

Just the quilt:



The quilt ended up being a challenge indeed; first I cut tiny squares of fabric 3/4".  It was interesting to look for the tiniest prints I could find in my stash.  I handstiched 16 of them together in rows:



Then I stitched the rows together and machine stitched the edges.

I was so happy with how the snail quilt turned out that I think I am going to have to attempt a larger quilt one day; maybe something that's a bit more of a stash buster.

This is just amazing, I love the fabrics you picked, the tiny scale is really impressive, and the embroidery-floss-as-yarn is such a great detail. (And I'm a huge fan of snails, so I love that you're treating yours to such a lovely picnic!)

I love the coasters idea!  I am going to have to try that.  

I was asked in a PM where the snails are from, so I thought I would let everyone know that they are from tinythingsarecute.c om.  There are so many cute things on there, but I have a soft spot for the little snails!
