I loved this purse, and decided to make it. I went a little further - lined it, put a little pocket inside, crocheted the lime green swirl and handle to match the lining. I also put a snap. You can not see the snap on the picture, because I did it after I took pictures.

So here is my version of Snail Shell Beach Purse from Frugal Knitting house:

Here is their original version with a pattern:

A couple recommendations, if you decide to make this purse:

1. Cast on really tight, and knit tight the first raw.
2. Loose it a little bit and bind off loose.

Otherwise the purse will not be flat like you see it on their picture. Instead of two circles ypu'll have two cones. I did not realize that first, and had to redo one coil.

Wow that looks great. What kind of yarn did you use? It looks so...sea-shelly!

Do you remember the brand? I really like the effect the multicolored yarn gave your purse.

I had a go at this too, and totally agree with the cast on tight tip, I did'nt and ended up with a dome rather than a flat snail.  I'm going to try felting it and bullying it flat with a hot iron.

I've bought some recyled sari yarn off eBay (still awaiting it's arrival) and am going to have another go at this pattern.  I'm tempted to cast on and knit the first row in a smaller size need to try and keep the work flat.

Normally I hate knitted handbags but I think this pattern is clever and interesting and great showcase for pretty multi-coloured yarn.
