I made this hat for my son. Yes, another hat for him. I have tried over the past year to perfect this pattern for a better fit.

First attempt was not even close, and my first successful attempt was not great. However, it was wearable and warm and would get him through this winter. It was too long above the face area and he could never see anything at all, and it was too tight, making it difficult to get on his head in the first place. The shaping at the back of the head was pointy and a bit sloppy, but the mohawk covered that. It was also too long in the neck, making it sit funny forever ride up and forwards, emphasizing the height of the hat. I made that one a button-up neck.

This one is a much better fit, and I prefer the tie-front neck as it can be worn folded up on itself and tied like a scarf or laid flat down the upper back and over the shoulders to help keep snow out of little one's coat...

C&C always welcome!

This is awesome!  If you decide to post the pattern, I'd love to make one for my cousin's son.  What a hoot!

Hehe.  Your son is so adorable.  I love the hat!  I'll definitely have to make one of these for the little people in my life.

It's true Smiley In warmer weather, he has a mohawk with the sides down to the wood, so this is the winter equivalent lol

Thank you all for your great feedback! Smiley
