hi i am almost done with the back but then i look ahead and the instructions say 14 rows less then the back.
I am having a hard time trying to figure that part out do i subtract rows through out the pattern?

This was confusing to me also - especially since the rows are labeled so weird.  The front is made the same as the back - bottom of sweater to top.  I made a medium so I looked at the last set directions (last line under Shape Armhole) "work on even __ for __ rows"  and subtracted 14.  Except that that set of directions has less than 14 rows - you need to subtract those rows plus a few from the next set above it as well.  So for the Medium I eliminated the set of rows I quoted (11) plus 3 from the Hdc2tog set above it.  Very confusing - I hope I have helped a little?!?

what i did is went back and started to count the rows and wrote out the rows for the third one i think its a med (I like my shirts big and i am hoping it shrinks) and subtracted fourteen i hope it works out, i also had the picture for the guide the one that shows the measurements. nowthe shape neck is confusing for the other side am i fo on the last row is the row suppose to be a little bit taller then the back?
