I need some ideas for gifts for a baby shower I'm going to in March. I do not know the mother very well, it's my husbands family. She's having a baby girl, Alexis. I sew, but I'm not very good with knitting or crochet. I have a lot of soft flannel I could use. I'm planning of making a stuffed animal, but other than that I'm not sure what to make? I don't have any kids, so I'm not sure what would be the most useful to the new mommy-to-be!

There are a ton of free patterns out there to sew for new moms.  I will list a few of my faves.  My standard gift is a diaper bag stuffed with burp cloths, bibs, a diaper wipes case, no-sew fleece blanket and swaddler.  Here are some links:

I forgot to mention that I also make a few boppy covers.  Here is the link to the pattern I use:

I also made this diaper clutch.  I loved it.:

I usually make everything to coordinate.  I usually stock up on boy and girl flannel when on sale at Joann's.  I also use washcloths on the back of the bibs and burp cloths for absorbency.  I have made them with solid colored flannel too.

Here is another couple of bib patterns that I use:

If you want to add something to your stuffed animal, you could consider getting a cute baby gift basket. I'm getting one for my best friend from high school, and its a bath set in the shape of a bath tub. I thought it was adorable! I found mine here:

Good luck!!
