Question for you guys.  I am in a swap right now where I sent my package out 3 weeks early.  My package was received, photos posted, thanked, etc.  The deadline for sending was 5 days ago and my partner hasn't sent yet (but has communicated that she intends to).  I asked our moderator if I could receive feedback since I met my obligations and can't join another swap until a slot opens.  I was told she only gives feedback once pictures are posted of the package you have received.  I can't take photos of something that was not sent.  Are there guidelines about this?  Thanks.

MissingWillow, according to rackycoo's post on the third page of this thread, the guideline is everyone should have feedback within two weeks after the sendout date. Pictures do not have to be posted in order for you to receive feedback. Maybe if you put in a help ticket they would give you feedback or ask your organizer too since your partner did receive and posted pics already. Hope you get it worked out.  Smiley

That's correct, MissingWillow. Some organizers do like to wait, but if you need feedback immediately to be eligible to join another swap, your organizer should be willing to go ahead and give you positive feedback. If you're having trouble getting ahold of your organizer, you can open a help desk ticket and a mod will be happy to help. If you do wish for a mod to assist you with early feedback, please include in your ticket either a link to where your partner posted in the gallery, or a copy of the pm she sent when she received.

The gallery is not just for oohing and ahhing. It has other functions too. I use those photos to stalk my partners. Because of past situations, it makes me nervous if I can't find a picture of anything my partner has crafted. Especially when they have been in previous swaps. As an organizer that would make me more nervous. As a swapper I also use those pictures to gauge what I craft. I had a recent (great) partner that sends alot of sewn items. She does a great job at it, I decided to not send anything sewn to her. She made a comment somewhere that she wished she could knit more than a simple scarf. So, I pushed myself to make a fair isle pillow. Something she could not do for herself. I will also look to see what my partner has received so that i wont duplicate it. This is handy in multiple round themed swaps like Harry Potter.

I personally love the new swap rules, and appreciate organizers who take the time to see who they are allowing to join their swaps.

I can see the benefits, but there should be exceptions. Let me give you an example. All the packages I sent for a swap have been received. But the organizer won't leave me feedback because I haven't posted pictures yet, for the 2 packages I haven't received. One is coming from Canada. That could take a while. So I am getting penalized because I can't control the mail service.  I purposely made sure all my packages would be received by the middle of the month so I could get feedback and join a swap I have been waiting a year for.  But since I can't get feedback, I don't have a open spot, and now can't join the birthday swap. Other organizers have left feedback for me in similar situations. But because the picture rule, I get to wait another year for the birthday swap. I have posted pictures for every package I have received, in every swap.

The only thing that might save me is the 2 week rule. My last packages were sent the 17th. 2 weeks would be Oct 1st. Does that rule mean I should get my feedback by the 1st? Or is it 2 weeks from the date I had to ship by (the 22nd)? Hopefully everything will just fall into place. I should get one of the packages tomorrow. But there is no way to know with the international one.

I would love to swap for things kids could do in the car on a long car trip (3 girls ages 5-12). I can knit, crochet or trade yarn.

Sorry my package is causing you so much grief  Sad Shipping between Canada and the US can take up to 12 business days so at the very latest it should be there Monday October 4th.  Hopefully this still gives you enough time to sign up for your other swap.  I would think though that craftster's swap rules would over ride an organizers rules.  Again, very sorry.

There is absolutely nothing for you to be sorry about. You can't control the mail service either  Wink You generously made me something I really wanted and even paid international shipping. I am grateful. Don't apologize. Really I don't see this as having anything to do with you, the organizer, or this package. I'd say it only has to do with the rules.  Wink This is just a perfect situation to get people to think "outside the box". I actually agree that some organizers requiring pictures is a good thing, I just think that some situations call for a little leniency. No rule works perfectly for every situation. The good thing is I should be able sign up for the swap I wanted. I shouldn't be so excited, but I can't help it. We don't have the money to exchange birthday gifts, so I feel like a kid knowing that I will get a gift this year. Stupid, I know.   Smiley

craftaddiction, if both your packages have been received, you should NOT be penalized because you have not received yet and have not been able to post photos. If all your packages have been received and you need immediate feedback but  an organizer is unable or unwilling to give it to you, please feel free to open a help desk ticket. Include links to the gallery where your partner(s) posted, or quote the PMs where your partner(s) reported receiving, and a swap mod will be happy to fix your feedback for you.

*Posting photographs IS NOT a requirement for receiving positive feedback for a swap*
