So I found this pattern to make a stuffed tattoo mom heart.  As I started making it for my bf, I realized that he didnt need just another thing to have sitting around.  So I made it in 2D instead and put it in a shadow box with t-pins, the kind used for dissections, specimens, and apparently quilting.  The picture isnt so good, but you get the idea...

What a great idea!  And the pins give it sort of a macabre but still sweet vibe.  Did he like it?

Neat.  What a cool idea.  May I ask where the pattern can be found?

It looks fab. I know what you mean about making things just to leave them sitting around, so this is a fantastic alternative idea.
