This is my first posting, so bear with me. My sister had some old cabinets I thought I could use them. After two weeks of brainstorming & looking at this site (I Love This Place!!), I decided a play kitchen.
1st Bolt the 2 cabinets together.
2nd Jigsawed an opening for my "sink" a rubbermaid contain, but you could use anything with a lip on it. You just cut a hole just smaller then the lip. You can affix it with glue, but I wanted to be able to take it in & out .
3rd Jigsawed an opening for an old bathroom fixture so the spout is over my "sink".
Used the nuts that came off of it to tighten it to the top cabinet.
4th Taped off a section of the other cabinet top & spray painted white
5th Used hot glue to affix 4 black coasters for burns. (I hope this holds if not I'll try a different glue.) Then used 4 self-adhesive furniture glides as knobs.
6th I used a black perm marker to mark the dials.
7th Trimed the raw edge with left over trim from another
project.
8th Stuck self-adhesive hooks for pot holders & measuring spoons & cups
9th Filled with empty boxes & containers & varied kitchen stuff
This was a very green project Reduced, Reused, & Recycled
The kids love it!! & it didn't cost $150 for something they will quickly grow out of!
Plus it doesn't look too out of place in my kitchen!
