Most of these my sister and I took at the arboritum. Unfortuately, it was a little early is the spring for flowers.

I decided to make my daughter's prom dress this year. Her only request was that it wasn't another black dress. She wanted something blue, red, green, or purple. I said anything but purple. I made up three sketches and this is the one she chose.

I had planned a silk dupioni for the design and we agreed that an aqua would be pretty. We found the teal silk and copper taffeta and knew we had our colors. I decided to simplify the design and not paint the skirt. I didn't want it too busy.

I found the jewelry on etsy.

I made the corsage and shrug to finish the look.
The hair was done by my sister Joyce and make-up by me. I tried to leave it subtle and focus on her beautiful eyes.

I think the design is great, so nice and original rather than lots of material additions.

Beautiful! I love the bird-and-branch design, and the colors.

Its so elegant. You've got a lucky daughter. I'm jealous 'cause I'm trying to make my own prom dress and it isn't going to be as nice as this.

The dress is fantastic! I love the painted design, the stiff corset bodice, and the fact that you can almost feel the texture of the fabric just by looking at it! Again, fantastic. Smiley -x-
