I'm marrying the man who introduced me to craftster, so naturally I need a craftster thread to document all my DIY-wedding-awesomeness!   Cheesy

A bit about us and our wedding:
We met in high school, in the limo on the way to his prom (he's 1.75ish years older) with different dates.  We hardly spoke that evening, but later in the month when me & my date broke up, a mutual friend gave me his instant messager screenname.  We talked online for a long time, eventually started dating, dated for 4ish years, and now here we are!  Our wedding reception will actually be held in the same place as his prom. Smiley  We're both still in college (although he's thankfully almost done and I'm about to start my student teaching) so we're definitely trying to work on a budget!  Our wedding colors are a dark tealy-blue and ivory & we'll have 150 - 200 guests.

Wedding DIY Projects Done:

I just ordered our Save the Dates a minute ago!  We're getting them from Sam's Club - 38 cents each.

They're FAR greener on here, I don't know why... They're more blue in real life.  Fiance & I designed them in photoshop last night.  I'm really happy with them!  I'm hoping to use the C & H in other wedding crafts as well.

Here's some in-progress shots of the coffee-filter roses!  They're a lot of work, but so worth it.  My mom & my sister/Co-Maid-of-Honor have been cutting out rose pieces like crazy and I've been putting them together & painting them every chance I get!

From left to right: an unpainted rose, still wet, dried & curled

And a partial bouquet!  Co-MOHs and BMs will have 10 roses each; I'll have 20 in mine.  I'm also planning on adding crystals a la Sweets4ever's bouquet.

I made these shirts to ask my cousins & sister to be my maids of honor & bridesmaids!  I made a stencil from a plastic folder & used Tulip's new spray fabric paint.  They came out great & the girls were so excited!  I made a Bride shirt for myself too.

This is minus 1 Co-MOH & 1 Bridesmaid:

Here are the shirts all wrapped up & ready to give! They all say "Will you be my..."

I think the pink-tinted edges really make the project.  They look real!

I'm so glad you like the pink tips, katiebread!  They were the one thing I wasn't quite sure about yet. Smiley  I get really excited any time anyone says they look real haha.

mich_p - Go for it!  They're so worth it.  I'm info any craft with near-instant results haha.

I'm excited to meet a wedding-date-twin, Molly.Connelly!  You're the first person I've run into with that date!

well I am getting married in Vegas and so it is cheaper to get married on a weekday than it is on the weekend.
my fiance actually knows a girl who is getting married the same day as us, (but she's getting married in the town we live in and plus we don't exactly have the same circle of friends so no worries/drama there)

Thanks beckashell!

Molly.Connelly - I now know someone else getting married on our date - and she happens to be the cousin of one of my best friends! Sad  Hopefully she'll be able to make both receptions at least!  Weekdays are much cheaper, that's why we chose a Friday too. Smiley

Here are some pictures of the finished bouquets... I still need to get better pictures:

All the coffee filter roses:

Tying the bouquet handles:

All six bridesmaid bouquets together!

My bouquet!  Mine has a heart charm, the girls each have little charms with their first initial.

Here'a a picture of my aisle runner!  I bought the runner itself at Michaels, unrolled about 85 feet of it, traced and painted my design, and rolled it back up!  It was really easy... the hardest part was the rolling.

Pictures of my invites!! Cheesy  I love them so much.  We actually cut and glued the fabric to the outside of each, as well as cutting and printing all the paper.  It was a lot of work, but I'm thrilled with the results. Smiley

You can't see it so well in the picture, but I'm especially proud of the RSVP - we typed up the names of the invited guests with check boxes next to them, so guests can just check off who's attending. We also had a box to check if no one could come. I love it because we haven't had anyone try to add someone who isn't invited and whoever knows what to do with the traditional M________ anyway? Cheesy

I may have to steal that check mark idea! The man and I were trying to figure out who to invite and who not to last night, and man that's difficult! I may just have to kill off some family members to make it easier . . .  Tongue
The roses look beautiful as well. I keep going back and forth between buying them or making the coffee filter ones; I'm not sure if I like the ones I've made well enough.

We had the same issue, with deciding who to invite.... in the end though, enough family said "no" that we could invite anyone we wanted to, just to fill in our required number of guests!  It involved a lot of last minute calls: "We really wanted to invite you, but we felt that we had to invite family first... however, some of them couldn't attend, so now we can invite people we want to invite - like you!" haha.

There are definitely pros and cons to making your own... some of the things I liked was I could bring it to my dress fittings to see it with my dress, I know it's done and there won't be any last-minute issue on the day, and I can keep it forever!  Storing all of them is a pain though, haha.  If you like the idea of coffee filter roses, but are considering just having a florist do them, you could always just buy the ones on the mommymakesroses website... I'm not sure how the prices compare to a florist, but I hear live flowers are expensive!

It's now been 3 weeks and 1 day since our wedding!  It was the most incredibly perfect day.  Smiley   I'll share more pictures once we get more of the pro shots, but here are some now...

Cake!  With my coffee filter roses on top and my monogram design in icing on the front!  We had the cake professionally made, but she incorporated all my elements perfectly. The design around the bottom mimics the scroll design on our invites. (It has buttercream icing - doesn't it look as smooth as fondant?)

This picture shows the coffee filter rose bouquets I made for me and my bridesmaids!  I'm sure my photog got a better picture of them, but at least this one is better than anything I've uploaded so far!

Bridesmaid coffee filter rose bouquets!  Their dresses are actually teal, not blue.

Here's a half-way decent shot of the necklaces I made for the co-MOHs & bridesmaids.  The one in the center is my sister and Co-MOH.

And, just for fun, one of the professional pictures (by Amy Boeve Photography - I love her, she's fantastic!) of my husband and I. Smiley  I made my necklace and my mom and I made the veils.
