I bought the most amazing navy/light blue bedsheet from a charity shop the other day and was ready to make it into a awesome sailor dress. The intended dress turned out rubbish...which resulted in a bit of a tantrum. Then thought the skirt was a bit salvageble and made it into a pinafore. Smiley It has a criss-cross detail on the back....why that pic came out blurry, I haven't a clue!

Luckily, the skirt didn't need to be pleated, but yet has loads of room in it for you to twirl around in. Smiley I was really pleased how the light blue stripe turned out - might use that detailing in some other frocks later down the line. Smiley

*Jeez, I didn't realise how hokey I look in my checkered shirt and skirt - looks like I'm off to a barn dance. Tongue*

How cool! I wouldn't have had the patience or the skill to salvage a failed pattern, so I'm really impressed. And I don't think the checkered shirt looks hokey, it looks vintage-y with your pinafore and very cute.  Smiley
