Here is a good charity crafting site for those wants to help homeless animals.
http://www.h4ha.org/
I like the "Snuggles Project".  You can help animals and use up yarn remnants.  There is also a worldwide list of shelters so you can find one in your area to donate too.
Thanks!

This is a shameless plug for the shelter where I volunteer, Tree House Animal Foundation, which is part of the Snuggles program run by H4Ha.org.  Tree House's site is at http://www.treehouseanimals.org.  We always need bedding for the kitties, so craft yer little hearts out!

I've started crafting things to be sold at an annual festival for a local greyhound rescue group.  I plan on listing some items on ebay as well.  Then I can donate the cash to the group!  I like this idea because I don't need to get the group involved.  They just get the cash they need.

I have fleece ready to go so I can make snugly sacks to send to:
http://www.themiafoundation.com/ They take in pups with congenital birth defects and give them a chance for a happy life.
My idea comes from a friend who makes cozy sacks for guinea pigs. I contacted her with a few questions because that size will be perfect for newborns.

Here is my first sack:

I sew and do machine embroidery. At this stage of life, I try to keep things simple.
