I made this to wear for Mardi Gras because I recently went to Arisia con in Boston, where I got TINY HAT FEVER and decided to reallocate large portions of my time to making little hats. Mardi Gras is also my birthday this year, and it seemed like a perfect excuse to wear something silly to work!
Materials used: scraps from Joann - I really didn't look too closely at what the fabric was. The red is a faux suede, and the purple is like sateen, but stiffer and with a matte back. I know it should have been purple and green, but I was feeling poor, and this is what I had on hand
Process: I sewed the two sides separately using a machine, then turned them right side out like socks and sewed them together. Then I attached them to the barrette with red thread.
Improvements for next time: I was going to put bells on, but the bells I had weighed it down too much. The fabrics weren't quite the same consistency, so the red parts tend to hold their own while the purple parts buckle under a bit.

I sewed (rather clumsily) the whole thing onto a small barrette finding:Bottom View
