reuse men's dress shirt

So...You know those button down men's dress shirts that there is a huge abundance of in any thrift store on the planet?  I think it would be cool if people had to make some kind of crafty object out of one.  Obviously, some people could restyle the shirts into some other kind of clothing (shirt or not).  Some of the craftsters though, myself included, aren't necessarily all that big on sewing clothing and would use it for something else.  (It's not that I don't like sewing clothing...I just can't really sew clothes unless there is a simple pattern involved).

I think the rule could be that you can do whatever you want with it, as long as it is fairly recognizable that it's previous life was as a dress shirt.  The winner wouldn't have to be from any specific category as long as the craft is well done, that is, those who restyle the shirt into another piece of clothing won't have any extra points over those who reuse it for something else.  And I suppose that the shirt could be made into more than one item if it's for a set.

I have plenty of ideas that COULD be done, even if some are beyond my pretty basic skill level.

What does everyone think?

I think that is a great idea! There are so many different colors and patterns and such in thrift stores. Oh, I have tons of ideas popping into my head for this.

That sounds like fun. I've always wanted to make a quilt from them, especially goodwill ones, they're so soft and broken in. I also saw some cute tunics the other day that I thought could be fashioned from them. *she smiles devioulsy thinking of her boyfriend's dress shirt laying on her bedroom floor*

oh yeah, the reason it should be for the next challenge for June is because Father's day is in June.

I like this idea. I think it would be great for October. That way some people could make them into Holloween costumes! Mmm, dress shirt witch's hat.

That's a crazy coincidence... I just asked my brother and dad today for old dress shirts, because I had been wanting to experiment with them. I think this should definitely be a challenge!

This would make a great challenge! Because you dont need a serger for that type of fabric right? I want this to be the next challenge too!
