disneyland?!  jealous, jealous, SO VERY JEALOUS.

but in other news... this swap idea inspired me to pull out and scan some of my loose badges/patches.  (these things were tucked away in my parents' house for years but then my crazy mother decided that i NEEDED to have them.  this wouldn't be so crazy except that most of my things live in florida with my parents while i live in scotland.  it's the biggest deal for my mom to pack things along with whoever comes to visit. i always get so excited to see my things again BUT... girl scout badges?!)

anyway without further ado, i give you photos (couldn't figure out how to make them not ginormous--stupid scanner) and my interpretations

this one dates me!  d'oh.  cookie power?!  erm...  cookie-ism.  i know i got this for (my mom) selling a zillion boxes but cookie power?

divination?  not being color blind?

grocery carrying?

what?!  buzzards?!  except i remember that i got this because i learned to sing a song about three chartreuse buzzards sitting in a dead tree--which, eh, i've just realized that i always thought the song was three chartridge buzzards so i suppose i didn't really learn afterall...

there's loads and of course i didn't make these but they'll be even more fun to make with the real-life ones being so bizarre!

I learned that song at Girl Scout camp also, except it was short-necked buzzards, not chartreuse. Isn't it funny how the words evolve as the song gets passed along?

In Australia we sing 'Three charcoal buzzards'!! I guess maybe somebody heard the original words and didn't understand them..?

Aneyhall - we should definititely swap games, ideas and things once I get my Brownie unit started again!

Aneyhall, I love those patches. The rainbow eye one is neat, if a little perplexing. I've still got all of my old girl scout patches, my dad was nigh obsessive about getting them all onto my wind breaker when I was a brownie. The jacket is practically stiff from all the patches.

How does this sound? Sign ups being in the last week of March, having April to craft, and sending in the first week of May. Or, alternatively, we could put it off for a month, have sign ups in the last week of April, May to craft, and send outs in the first week of June. Really, that might work better for me what with finals in the first week of May.

June sendouts would work best for me, my dissertation is due in the first week of may so I'd have to choose between sending late or failing this degree (and judging by how much I use crafting to procrastinate, it'd likely be the second one, and I would be super-annoyed not to get the biggest merit badge of all Tongue )
