all I have to say is  Shocked
okay thats not all I have to say... lol
so of course Valentines day calls for chocolate and lots of it right? Well, this might have pushed the envelope just a bit.  To quote the husband: "it's like you took just enough chocolate, then added more." LOL
These are the recipes I used (so you can make your own chocolate overload cake)
http://www.foodnetwork.ca/recipes/Dessert/Eggs-Dairy/recipe.html?dishID=9498
http://www.foodnetwork.ca/recipes/Dessert/Chocolate/recipe.html?dishID=4585
the only thing I did differently was I used 70%cocoa chocolate in the ganache, and in place of buttercream milk I used whipping cream.
It looks delicious....

The cake fell... but thats cause it got thunked down first thing out of the oven....  but it made it possible to STUFF ganache into the cake.... zomg drool.

This is what the cake looked like when I thought I was finished it. It needed more so white chocolate hearts it was!

this is how I made the White chocolate hearts:
Melt  some white chocolate chips. spread onto a piece of parchement. I just free handed the shpes with a knife. If you are lucky enough to have a cookie cutter, use it!  you may need to let it sit awhile this way though.  Stick in freezer for 5 minutes, then pop out the pieces! Voila, delicious decorations  Grin

so yeah.. yum right?  hope your valentines day was wonderful too!!

This looks amazing, and I really love the white chocolate hearts!  I'll definitely be using the melt-some-chocolate-chips-and-cut-shapes technique to garnish stuff in the future, what a cool idea.
