Such a great idea for old slides! I love how they look with the light shining through them! I would love to make some myself if I had any slides!

I love the curtains! There is something about old slides that I love...
I am so glad to hear that the slides haven't faded - that was the first question that came to my mind. My mom has a ton of slides from when she was young which she doesn't know what to do with. After we get them scanned into a computer (somehow) I would love to use them for a project like this!

Grin This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. So original and absolutely beautiful!

Thanks everyone!

DawnsTrees, the slides probably will fade at some point, at least the ones in the curtain will, since they're being exposed to direct sunlight a few hours a day. But as far as I can tell, they've been up for about 3 months now, and still look the same as when I first hung them up.  If they were in a north facing window, they would get more protection from the light.

I suspect that it will take quite a long time for the slides in the lamp to fade, since they're just being exposed to LED light, which, compared to the sun, is pretty mild.  Smiley  But as long as you have the slides scanned in first, even if something catastrophic does happen to the object, you still have the image preserved.

Wow, I don't even know what to say. That's fantastic. My parents still have a ton of slides with the family. What an awesome idea, because I know they don't have a projector or even anything to show it with. I'm so going to have to "steal" them from their house someday and do something like this. I don't know what's better the curtain or the lamp. Both awesome!!! Thank you so much for sharing Smiley

This really caught my interest as we have over 3000 slides that my FIL took over the years.  He is in a nursing home now and we have the slides.  My DH was able to copy them to a cd so that each family would have a copy and now wondered what he was going to do with the slides.  I showed him this and he was very interested.  I do have a question.  What did you use to join them together.  I can't tell what the little rings are?  They also look like they are of different colors??
