I LOVE all the Kitty hats! So cute and feline-sexy-cool! ^_^

I've been thinking about making that pattern for a while. My nan used to make me little white cat caps when I was a little girl, so they are like a cool upgrade of that. I'd love to make one to match my cat's fur... she was a tortoiseshell. Does anyone have any suggestions for a way to replicate that colouring in yarn? Would it be best to dye it, you think? Or should I do it in a stitch pattern (like fair isle or duplicate stitch)? It would be really cool if I could figure out how to do that.

 Emergency question --

 I am going shopping for needles today and I forgot to write down what needles you use for the kitty hat. I left my book and can't get a ride very easily -- could someone look it up for me? Many thanks to anyone who can help

The needles are 4.5 mm / US 7; shortest circulars and double point needles! Good luck!
