One of my pregnant friends and I want to swap blankets for our babies-to-be, but I don't seem to have any good patterns that aren't very plain, or very girly (ruffles and flowers just won't do for boy babies!)  So far, the only one that I remotely like is the Lion Brand Tree of Life baby-sized blanket.

Do you have any suggestions for a nice baby blanket or afghan pattern?

I've never actually knit these, but these 3 really intrigue me as being different and cute:

I'm currently working on this blanket for my nephew: Luca Cabled Baby Blanket

I'm a fairly new knitter, and I find it to be a nice, easy project.  Smiley

Oooh, I think that one will be perfect!  It's simple and elegant, and I know my friend will love it!

The other ones are great, too, but I think she'd like this one best.  Thanks for your help!

There is a fun and easy pattern in Last Minute Knitted Gifts called Circle of Friends that I've made a couple of times. It knits up very quick since it's all garter stitch.

I found this link to a blog posting about the blanket...(not mine)
http://yeh-for-knitting.blogspot.com/2007/10/circle-of-friends-baby-blanket.html

The idea is that a group of friends knit individual stripes that can be sewn together to form a blanket.

I've always just made the whole thing myself but I love the idea of getting others involved Smiley.
