I was super inspired by PeaceLovesBrains flying/raccoon mario rug but I had no idea how to crochet. So after some trial and error and learning from youtube videos, I (reasonably) mastered the creation of granny squares. So after countless hours of crocheting in front of Seasons 3 & 4 of Dr. Who I created this awesome rug.  Grin

My progress after 1 day of putting it together

how big are the squares?  It just never occured to me that mario and all the figures are like cross stitch.  One block one color.  You have inspired many ideas!!

I love this.  Actually, I love all these mario granny square blankets.  I keep wanting to make one myself.  But, I get so bored making granny squares.  But, I am more inspired seeing this.  I think I will start finally making one.

-I give up on making TOL pendants.  If anyone would like to have my stone chips, wire and ect.  I would gladly trade it all for some knitting/crochet stuff.

-Currently crafting.....A Weasley blanket.  I'd love some squares made from fellow Craftsters.

the squares are one round which is about 2"x2" but some of the squares are bigger or smaller because of the type of yarn used

Congrats on learning to crochet. It is fun, exciting and something you can take with you where ever you go.

I am inspired! I took a peice of grid paper and colored in a pattern for granny squares. I think I will make the face a peach color, keep the gloves white, but (not sure yet what color) use a different color for the "back ground" to make this into a lap blanket/afghan. If I do 2x2 in granny squares then it will be est. 26in wide by 40in high. A decent sized afghan/lap blanket. Debating about making it wider with a star or coin near his feet. It is an awesome idea.
