Wildness is a necessity

I love The Monkees.  I have been watching the TV show and listening to the music for years and I have loved this picture that is hanging in their pad.  Every time I saw it in the background in an episode I thought, "I really need to make myself one of those!"

So, after years of thinking about it I finally did.  And I couldn't be happier about it.  This was the first time I used the freezer paper technique for the stencil.  I stenciled it onto some natural woven cotton material.   It turned out perfect except for the "M".  I must not have pressed that enough and some paint slipped through.  I managed to lighten up some of the space though and I might get some paint that matches the fabric later.

It is hanging in my kitchen.

The original is seen here in the top left with Peter in the episode Dance, Monkee, Dance.

Ain't afraid of God, devil, death, nor destruction. Them's my four aces.

You did a great job, it looks just like the original.  Smiley Must admit though I've turned into one of those people who hates mis-repeated quotes.  Embarrassed (The love of money is the root of all evil).  Wink

I too love the monkee's and this is just great! I was obsessed with the reruns as a kid. (I'm not old enough to have seen them originally) Great work!
