So I finally made my first batch of  MP soap, woohoo! And I promise, my cat really wasn't harmed, he's just a bit peeved with me at the moment.

It's WSP's natural goat milk soap base with olive oil and ground oatmeal (Thanks MareMare for the suggestions!), I also added stearic acid as a hardener and very lightly scented it with lemongrass sage FO. I used an old gladware container as a mold and it holds about 12oz, so roughly 3 bars of soap once its cut.

unmolded:

some of the oatmeal settled, but there's still plenty suspended throughout.

And the soaplicker:

Now you ask, why is my cat, Murphy, a soap licker? I mixed everything and poured it in the mold on the counter. When I walked over to put my stuff in the sink to start washing, the little stinker decided to jump up on the counter and give the soap a lick. So now after spitting it out and drinking a bunch of water, he is now laying on my floor giving me dirty looks for deceiving him. Moral of this story, put your soap where your cat can't eat it!

He is a dairy junkie! And McDonald's cheeseburgers for some reason...

The soap turned out terrific! Usually after a shower I'm running for the aveeno and I start itching immediately in the winter. Now my skin is nice and soft, there's no more dragon scales and I don't feel like I'm gonna scratch my skin off. Grin

Your combination of ingredients does sound quite luxurious! Does it smell nice?

It smells very creamy with just a bit of the lemongrass sage. I purposely under-scented it because it seemed like it could become very overwhelming. But overall its just a very creamy bar of soap, especially in the lather, I love it!

Unfortunately MareMare, I'd love to say he learned his lesson, but his full name is Murphy's law....I get the feeling he'd do it again given the opportunity! haha!

Murphy got his revenge this morning...usually my alarm clock is his wake up call/breakfast bell. This morning he decided he was going to wake me up instead by sitting on my chest and staring at me at 6am. He doesn't look it in that pic, but he weighs 13lbs!! So imagine waking up because there's an uncomfortable weight on your chest and its pitch black except for glowing green/gold eyes. Talk about the stuff nightmares are made of!

I'll admit it, I did think about leaving it as one giant bar of soap, but I sliced it in 2 and am giving half of it to my Mom

And now, I've caught the soap bug! I so very much wanted to call in sick today and make more soap because I have a ton left! I know I'm going to end up trying CP eventually, but along with Murphy we have a 4 month old kitten and they get into everything. So until I can find a way to lock stuff up from prying paws, it's going to have to wait.

Ha ha, my ferret is a soap licker, too!  I always have to be super careful after soaping, because he'll scoot into the kitchen and camp out in front of oil drops on the tile, licking away.  I don't understand how he's still got a tongue.  Weird little beastie.
