I am preparing to make a mascot costume shaped like my county. Any suggestions (aside from foam) on how to stable-ize it while remaining flexible enough to sit & walk and also not break down the way tim tex type stuff does. ANY help would be apriciated! Thanks so much Smiley

Why not foam?  That's what mascots are made of, usually.   Huh

There are some plastic mesh materials, but they are probably expensive.

They're on the expensive side, but Richard the Thread has stuff called Fosshape and Wonderflex that are supposed to be for costume making..  http://www.richardthethread.com/index.php?submenu=Fosshape_and_Wonderflex&src=gendocs&ref=Fosshape%2Fwonderflex&category=Main
