Yay! I get to post first! Grin

I got my fantastic motifs from Ffrogg526 today, and they rock!

First up: Complimentary Colors, Diagonal, Plant or Veggie Themed

The leaf is her own design!

Next: Lacy, Flower (Daffodil)

Love these! And, the daffodil will complement a motif I made for the last round...

Then: Various shades of 1 color (purple)

This is in a tie for my favorite! I especially love the "braided" corners, and it gives me an idea...

And finally: Heritage (Lithuania), Sender's Choice (my initial!)

Both of these are also in a tie for my favorites! They are tapestry crochet (and also her own patterns), I believe. I'm not 100% sure of what the Lithuanian symbol means, but I did find a version of it on a site about the language of Lithuania.

Thank you so much, Ffrogg526! Awesome!!

I found another motif book that I had, and will be perusing it for some more ideas... I have a small motif in mind, and I think that's about what I'll be able to handle tonight Smiley

Nice motifs - it's difficult to pick a favorite as they are all very well done! I'm particularly impressed with the Tunisian ones, I've yet to try Tunisian, but its on my list!

playswithneedles, I don't think they're Tunisian, because they don't have that vertical bar that is visible (at least based on my very limited, one-stitch knowledge of Tunisian Wink ). I'm pretty sure they're tapestry crochet- the other color yarn is carried through and crocheted over as you go. Again, I've only done one tapestry crochet piece (a washcloth), so I'm not 100% sure. But, she did an awesome job on them no matter what stitch they are!!

Awwww thanks!  Yes, the heritage motif and the sender's choice (the C) are both done in tapestry crochet where you carry one color with you.  I'm not sure that I'm a fan of how the color carries up between rows beause it makes a loop on one side of your work but I still think the overall effect is pretty.  I think Tapestry crochet is really fun.  One of my goals this year is to design an entire piece and crochet it.  There's a store in Asheville called Earth Guide that has some beautiful pieces done in tapestry and that's what got me started with it.

OH! I guess I've been thinking that tapestry crochet is the same as Tunisian. Well - now I have two new things to learn  Grin

There's a tapestry crochet group on ravelry and Carol Ventura (she has another last name as well but I can't remember it for the life of me) has a website called www.tapestrycrochet.com.  After you get the hang of it, it really is the easiest thing in the world.  And for both of those motifs I just sat down and made something up.  For the heritage motif I did have to look at a picture but it was really easy to create.  Cheesy

I've done tunisian before but its not my favorite style to work with.  I'm thinking that I might try something in it though.  There's a really pretty sleeveless sweater top in one of the more recent issues of Interweave that's done in Tunisian Crochet that I might try.

I received from Ffrogg526! (And we were just talking about it today, too... that happened in the last swap I was in... Note to self: to get a swap package sooner, talk to someone about when you think it will get here...)

Anyhow, I was really happy to see the package, and here is what was inside (sorry the bottom is cut off a little... I took a whole bunch of pictures and this was the best one) :

From left to right, top to bottom:

1. Complimentary colours
2. Diagonal motif
3. Plant or Veggie (leaf - her own pattern!)
4. Octagon
5. Flower
6. Motif made of smaller motifs (Granny's Daughters, FTW!)
7. Lacey
8. B is for Becky!

I recongnize a few of them from Beyond The Square, in fact, I've made one of these for this swap!  So, anyway, the ones I recognise are 1, 2, 4, and 7... maybe 5...  And that octagon was the reason I was asking if any 8-sided motif would count as an octagon... just for the record. lol

So, thank you so much for the motifs, Ffrogg526! They're perfect. ^_^
