After a few years' hiatus from beading, I decided to crack open my neglected Japanese beading book and get back to work.  Here is my "springtime ring".  It didn't turn out exactly as it should have--it was supposed to be domed and turned out lumpy instead.  But still not too bad!

Sometimes you have to push the dome into shape. I love making things from Japanese craft books. What type of thread did you use?

Even after lots of manipulation, the dome is still lumpy.  I'm convinced that I missed (or added) some steps somehow, since it didn't turn out quite as rounded as it should have.  As for thread, I went with my old stand-by: 8 pound test fishing line.  Works everytime!

I think that ring was in Beadwork's Beaded Rings. What Japanese book did you get it out of?

Funny enough, the book I have is called "Beads Works: Handmade Accesories".
