These Ain's Yo Grandma's Doilies!

I don't know what it is about doilies, but I'm drawn to them.  If I come across them in thrift and antique stores, I snatch them up and recently acquired a huge load of them from my MIL and her neighbor.  I just had them hoarded in a box, awaiting assignment.  My MIL has a lot of her clothes from when they were stationed in wildly interesting places like the Phillipines and India or Brazil and she gives them to me when she discovers a box in the basement.  I was given a very plain stretch knit outfit and nearly gave it to Goodwill when it dawned on me that it would make a great lining for the doilies and the idea snowballed from there.  It took a lot of tedious cutting, hand-stitching (thank goodness for dressforms!)and rearranging but I finally finished! Phew!

Oh, and can you believe my photographer is only 4 years old?

This is a brilliant idea and it looks absolutely beautiful. This definitely deserves a THIS ROCKS! And the photographer....you know what he's going to be when he grows up.

Absolutely beautiful, and what a great use for all those doilies! I can't imagine how long it must have taken to hand sew that!
