I have used dead air mattresses for everything you suggested EXCEPT a shopping bag. That is killer clever!

You can also put then on the back seat to transport dogs or put small holes for the seat belt and put the child seat in and it will protect your seat. I am defiantly using some of this bag to line a make up bag I am currently making.
I have been using the bag since I made it and it is sturdy, I was worried at first the the seams might rip. I haven't had any pulling at all. I might also make an apron for doing dishes and washing the dog, and car.

Here you can see that the Air mattress makes a nice lining for a make up bag protecting everything from the accidental cover up or other spills.

Omg... I might <3 you.
You have no idea how happy seeing this just made me.
I have been trying to figure out what to use to make some hot/cold shopping bags, and guess what I have 2 of sitting in the closet as I type? (cuz kids are awesome like that)
