My husband and I met in art school and we both love to draw cartoons. We always knew when it came time to have children, we were going to have to do something extra special for our nursery.

We were quite excited when we learned we were having a baby (and my silly husband almost immediately started sketching ideas, lol.) As soon as we learned we were having a boy, our pirate nursery began!

My husband drew everything free hand (he enjoyed the "naughty" feeling of drawing on the walls LOL) and I painted all the characters. With the addition of my mom, we all painted the backgrounds.

I wish I could say how long it took us exactly, but we worked on it off and on for so long, its really hard to say (not to mention the eight week break we took when I had the baby!). I do know I spent about an hour a piece painting each character.

This is the first project we've ever done together and we had a blast! The time we spent together alone makes the whole project worth it...well that, and seeing how much our (now eight month old) son loves staring at his walls!

Okay, I'll hush now and on to the pictures:

(To hopefully keep from blowing anyone's computer up, I'm putting most of the detail pics as thumbnails...definately have a look though since this is what I worked so hard on!  Grin)

Yes, our son's name is Alex.  Smiley

One of my favorite details...it's mine and my husband's first initials.  Cheesy

And a bonus crib action shot! :

Sorry for all the pictures...there's just a lot of stuff in there!

It's a bit "funkier" than your average nursery, but it's perfect for us.  Cool

I am definitely going to have to complain to my parents about my lack of pirate themed bedroom as an infant. This is AMAZING!!

And Alex is adorable!

WOW!! I would show this to my husband but then I'm sure he would insist I start a project like this for our little girl's nursery.

Shiver me timbers lass!  This is no room for a lily-livered lad!  You'll be raising a future Privateer for certain!
