My 13 year old Daughter gave me one days notice to come up with a Civil War Nurse costume for her social studies class.  This is what we came up with.  The bottom is a white, denim skirt.  It had some nice embroidery on the bottom.  I cut it off for another project and hemmed it up.  It's a drawstring skirt so we put the drawstring in the back so it looked more like an apron.  The bodice part of the apron is the corner of a pillow case we fused the red cross on.  The floppy nursed hat is the other corner of the pillow case we turne up for a brim, hemmed the bottom and rounded off the corner.  We found the ditsy floral print dress at a thrift store.  I thought it turned out pretty cute!
