So I'm basically looking for craft stores that aren't Micheal's or Joann's.  They usually have all kinds of neat things in there that you can't find at the big chains.  And they can be all over oregon!  Fabric stores, bead stores, paper crafting sores, you name it, I would love to know where abouts it is. Plus, supporting local small business owners is preffered. Smiley
I am especially interested in anything out towards the coast, off 101 etc.  My BFF and I like to make driving tirps and love stopping at the craft stores that we find along the way.
but anything anywhere is great!!
Thanks so much Cheesy

Fabric Depot isn't a chain, I've been told, they're not really a tiny business though lol! And there is http://www.knittnkitten.com/ which is freaking awesome! Thrift craft store, if you haven't been I highly recommend it. I know there's some yarn stores downtown and some cool fabric place LauPre was telling me about that I forget Sad

Craft Warehouse is a chain, but it's a small locally-owned chain Smiley There's one in Gresham at Division & Eastman Pkwy.

Purl (downtown) is lovely but pricey. It's near Josephine's (fabric)  and a small needlework store as well.

Yarnia is at about SE 50th & Division - it's blend-your-own-yarn.

A Bead Source is at SE 158th & Division, they're my favorite bead store.

Paper Zone over on SE Grand is good for anything papercrafting! They also have classes where you pay maybe $25, but get a store credit for that amount after the class.

Fabrics for Less is on Sandy and it isn't fancy, but has interesting fabrics and trims.

Don't forget about Button Emporium..  I've never been there, but I've heard it's fantastic...

And I would always include Scrap (www.scrapaction.org).  Not really a craft store, but certainly a place where a creative craftster can scrounge materials...

I have been to Fabric Depot, they are awesome!!  it's a good thing that they're so far away though.  I spend to much money when I go, but the only time I do go, is when they have their sale.

Fabric Depot is just up the road  from me! Probably the same distance from my house to either there or the Joann SuperStore! (less than two miles to each, I'm always in trouble!)

Thank you for the links.  My friend wants to go to those places with me now to Smiley  I love craft stores, I swear that's when my muse makes her presence know.  Then it's like, OOOOO I need this, and OOOO I can make this with that!!  You get the idea.  I think my muse has ADD, she's always throwing my inspiration for stuff when I haven't even finished one project lol.  (course it's probably just me, and she's probably gonna get mad at me for blaming her lol)
Is anyone else's muse that way??

Again thanks for all the links Smiley

And is there anyone else out here in Beaverton, or is everyone pretty much scattered through out portland and other cities??

Yes I am... I feel so far far away... *grin*
At least I have lots of reasons to go into PDX as compared to some of my neighbor suburbanites!
