I've been spinning yarn at the farmer's market this summer and I just tired of it. So many people ask the same questions week after week... so I decided instead of spinning a couple weeks I would crochet. First I made a couple kerchiefs, one of which was sold on the spot. Started with this yarn:

and made this kerchief:

Action shot!

And then the next week I made some neck warmers that I decided were too itchy so I lined them with fleece. Just finished these this morning!
Starting yarn

The fleece on this one is all hot pink with tiger stripes:

and the fleece in this one is rainbow peace signs. It's a bit more snug than the first:

not very good action shot:

Those are very cool, Jexxi!

I miss so much spinning in public.  I used to spin every Saturday morning at the Farmer's Market (for the past 6 years), but this past spring was deemed, "a weekly disruptive presence" and was kicked out of the market ...  That's what you get for being a founding member of a market that was set up by backyard gardeners where the market was taken over by city government (and I don't "play well" with local politicians.)

I'll still set up and spin at random in parks or other FM, just because I can and they welcome my presence!!!

I never minded the questions asked over and over and over and over again.  I had my basket of spindles and roving and loved to teach children how to spindle spin yarn.

I love that kerchief!
I feel the same way when i do spinning at open studios, sometimes i can deal with the "come see the artist in her natural habitat" ambience, and sometimes i just want to do my thing and not have to talk to anyone.  Smiley

I love that kerchief, Jexx!  The colors are awesome.

Bella, I almost laughed out loud thinking of your spinning as a "disruptive presence."  Ha!!  Wheels and spindles are SO FREAKING LOUD, not to mention the wool!!!  I'll bet it was nearly impossible for a person to buy veggies, what with all that yarny chaos going on.  I am very upset just imagining the riotous scene.  Roll Eyes

oh that's not me, it was Cyndi(MLF).  I can't believe she'd be considered disruptive either.  Must have been inside politics more then anything.. how ridiculous.

Doh!!  Well, either way, I'm sure you're both very unruly at a farmer's market!   Wink

Been a little quiet around here. Hope everyone is busy doing fun and creative things.

I have a project to share, which I started for the sheep to shawl contest and then was unable to finish in time due to a tendonitis flare up.  Yuck.  Anyway, I finally finished the shawl and thought I'd show it off.  Smiley

Here is the finished yarn, 1 ply BFL and 1 ply merino/tencel.  About 7.5 oz and 800 yards.

Finished yarn by inlerah, on Flickr

and the finished shawl:

I also finished these fingerless mittens:

and another queen anne's lace scarf:

so what have you all been up to?
