There is a good article in the last issue of Spin-Off addressing this exact thing.  I tried the hints the author recommended and (although I really have to think when I spin this), I have been able to make novelty yarn!!

Is your 3-ply a chain ply or a regular ply?  It is quite beautiful!!

I had a couple of bobbins with some left over (from plying) singles that I decided to ply together just to see what happened.  One single was purple & green, the other was orange & yellow .... interesting 2-ply ... I have about 100 yards ... just enought to make another baby goblin hat with it!!

Oh my gosh -- I can finally contribute something to Fiber Friday instead of just drooling!  
I'm so excited!  Here we go...!


Here's my first hand spun yarn ever, completed just this week.  
It's wobbly looking and lumpy.. but I love it and I'm still proud of my work.  He he.  Some parts look to be over spun.. some parts not spun enough, but I'm learning!






Here's my second attempt.  I made it quite a bit thinner and I'm paying a lot of attention to the thickness to make sure it's consistent (because thick and thin's not my goal here).  I'm also doing my best to keep the amount of spin as consistent as I can.  I haven't gotten that far though it yet (it's taking me a _lot_ longer than the previous one!) but here's my progress so far:





I really like the blue, pink, and purple coloration of this roving.  Princess-y.  

Great work everyone!  And I love, love, LOVE "Cake".  Very creative.
Suggestions for improvement are very welcome!

i finally have some more to share.

i made this one for my aunt for her birthday.  i hope she likes it.



i dyed it with grape Kool-Aid.  i really love the way the color turned out.  it looks a lil more purple in real life than it does here.


this was made with roving i got from freckle face fibers off etsy.  it's called Sweetgrass.



i really love it.  it's so pretty and springy.  i have a bunch left too, so i can make even more.   


finally here's the first thing i've made with yarn i spun myself. 

the only yarn not spun by me is the white one on the back of the flower.  that i got in a swap.

the color of the Sweetgrass yarn makes my mouth water... like its edible or something lol  and it looks so smushy and cuddle worthy.  cute hat too!

Yeaaa 3 pages..I don't have anything to contribute this week as I have been finishing up a swap package and had some finishing and last minute crafting to do. I just wanted to also mention that I am super proud of Sarahj who was a swap partner of mine a bit ago on taking the plunge into spinning. I also LOVE the pink wheel. We both like the pink...my craft room is pink too..lol. Awesome work this week gang!
