rude! well, i would say dont bet the farm on being able to take them along i guess...

i think blunt edged scissors should be allowed anyway..you can really stab anyone with them, and they are usually kids scissors so they are hard to get to cut skin , and kinda unweildly anyway...but at least they are better than tearing

i had a friend who scrapbooked and NEVER used scissors, she thought it was unique and funky, but it doesnt work on every page, it just doesnt...

How did it go? I'm flying tomorrow, and I'd really like to take my embroidery!

Take it!

I always take a pair of embroidery scissors with me in my travel bag, no matter what craft I'm doing, and they've never been confisciated-- 50 plus trips over the last 2 years.  You guys should have seen me trying to explain double pointed knitting needles the other night-- hysterical!

But if you're worried, take scissors you don't care about or a nail clipper and you'll be just fine.

I took my beading along and had it in my carry-on.  I packed a travel sized crimp, and they took it away and my wire, which was obviously beading wire and not electronic wire.  *sigh*

To be fair, any metal wire can be used as electronic wire. Plastic wrap can be shaved off at each end, leaving some dodgy but still functional stuff, depending for how long you need it to do some mischief. Heck, I could use the support for my bra as electronic wire if I needed to.

Well, I took along my embroidery (on a flight from Israel), and they were fine about the needles, but they weren't best pleased about my nailclippers because they had a teeny tiny metal file on them. Luckily in Israel they scan your luggage before you check in as well as after, so I was able to stash it in my suitcase. But beware of nailclippers! trim your thread beforehand.

I ALWAYS reserve plane rides for making those starburst necklaces. usually there is some kid who thinks they are so awesome 1. because they get to eat candy, and 2. because they get an end product out of what they thought was trash! plus they are really pretty, and make good gift suppliments.

my friend is a frequent flier and told me that for plane rides she bring pencils and knits with them. i don't remember if they were pre-sharpened or she sharpened them on the plane but still.

Try making a Japanese Braid (Kumihimo).  There are no needles or sharp objects needed and you can put it in your purse or pocket.  The kits I like use a soft foam disc.  Check out JapaneseBraids.com for instructions and kits.
