Beware the weasel....

Smitten recently posted some beer soaps (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=334221.0), and I was immediately filled with envy.  Beer!  In soap!  Plus, there was a new scent combo I'd been wanting to try, and so....

Made with He'Brew Genesis Ale, & scented with orange, sandalwood and patchouli.  Mmm, mmm!

I'm really pleased with it, except for the dreaded soap ash....

Does anyone have any tips on how to prevent this junk?  I know you can cut it off, but I know I'll never get these bars to be perfect rectangles again.

C&C welcome.  And thanks to Smitten for the inspiration!

You can just buff it off with a wet nylon (try an old piece of pantyhose!) or use rubbing alcohol.

Well gosh darnit, now I have beer soap envy!!

Those look great! The scent combo sounds great, too. And as far as the soda ash goes, in this case it looks like a nice, frothy beer head. Wink

Yay!  Thanks, y'all.  I'll be digging out some old pantyhose... ("Why do you need that?"  "For my beer."  Hmm.)

Another good source is a shoe store. Those little nylons you get to try on high heels? Perfect use for 'em!

Are you wearing high heels???

Yeah, I always take those little sockies home!

Shoot, you guys, now I want to make beer soap too! I've got some Full Sail Amber at home, maybe I'll pop a top today and see if it's flat enough when I make soap tomorrow!

LOL Beer soap takes over B&B board! news at 11...

Pfffft I can't stand in high-heels let alone wear them. But it's occasionally fun to try them on. Grin

Oh, and Smitten--I didn't get a beer-cano, though I did mix it in the sink, just in case.  It actually gave off a delicious bread smell!  I guess it was the fermented yeast.  (Told my mum, and now she wants me to make cinnamon toast soap.  I'm not sure the bread smell would stick around very long, though....)

Mmm mmm mmm.  What else in my kitchen can be soap?  Oh, the possibilities....

Coffee and tea are good next ventures ... milk is always good times! But do read up on making milk soaps so that you don't freak when your lye looks funky. Wink

I want to make energy drink soap. I'm not even kidding!  Grin
