CHOWI!!
 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Got my spindle made, got my fiber @ hobby lobby, meant for felting, but SO awesome and started drafting away!

...and gnoggered up one whole ball before I figured it out.  luckily I got 6 little balls in one package, and started with the orange, of which I am less fond than the other colors.

*EDIT*El Hubbito says I should probably tell you that "chowi" is NOT a swear, it means the same thing as "right on" or even "w00t!!"

Apparently, according to their website,  "[Roswell Wool is] now the largest wool warehouse by volume, under one roof, in the United States." Yeah, right here in S***hole Roswell, NM. Who'd've thunk it? Wonder if I can get roving there...

Yup, I got impatient too. I watched the next video on the Art of Megan and this is what I came up with:

I was going straight from my roving to the drop spindle!  Roll Eyes  I guess I was doing a little drafting just before it went into the spindle, but I can see already that the "proper" way will be so much easier!!

If you're drafting straight from the roving while spinning, that's one totally and completely proper way Cheesy Splitting and/or pre-drafting is also a proper way, but like you see from the photos JaneDoe showed they all give a different colour (and sometimes weight&texture) effect.

This might be a bit advanced preview, but to get different texture effects, there are zillions of different ways to draft the same roving that all make different kinds of yarn, from smooth, thin and shiny to airy and fluffy or wildly thick-and-thin and anything in between! (For example: a Peruvian spinner spinning alpaca, other Peruvian spinners plying yarn and drafting straight from a sheep's fleece, a Tibetan spinner, a Spanish-speaking spinner, plying art yarn with a spindle - lots of different ways to draft and spin...)
